The fuel consumption is about 2 times (or even more) more then it should be. Sometimes the car is going ok for a while, but most of the time it shuts down the engine when pushing the gear-pedal. Or when going 80km/h, i've to put it in 3rd gear in stead of 5, otherwise the engine shuts down.
When the engine IS going ok for a while, there's no influence by cold or heat. Sometimes he's doing ok when hot, sometimes when cold.
It shifts: then for a while the engine seems to do ok, then for a (longer) while the engine stalls/shuts down when holding the gear-pedal.
The fuel can be smelled inside the car, that doesn't seem to be right.

Can these 3 symptons be pointing to the same problem? If so, which problem?

@Jeff: there's NO black smoke.

The filter is clean. How do i find those sensors? (My car is rather rare, can't find a tech. book about it.)

MAF sensor is surely bad. Also known as the MAP sensor. It regulates how much fuel pressure is applied to the system. When they go bad, the car tends to smoke black and use excessive amounts of fuel, as well as the smell. Other than that, it's possible that one injector flew apart. Rare occasion but it does happen. Good luck.

The car is running very rich, I would start by checking the condition of the air filter and then try some fuel injection cleaner whilst the air filter is off and the engine is running about 1500 rpm
