your question is EXTREMELY vague...you can install a wireless network for any computer, be it a desktop, notebook, or PDA...but these only have an effective range of about 500ft from the base antenna. Cell phone providers offer data service using a PCMCIA card for notebooks which works over the cell phone network, however, I have yet to see a version which works in a desktop (for obvious reasons).

You can establish a wireless connection on any computer...be it a windows, mac or Linux.
Regardless of the operating system. If it's a desktop, make sure you have a wireless adapter or card. The you can configure it. Make sure also that your router is capable for a wireless connection. If you're only using a modem, you might need to have a router coz most modems are not capable of wireless connection.
If you have windows XP, it would be a lot easier to configure since it's just plug and play.
