was it a good trade on Cincis part?

Yes Clayton can still play, but I see him and Castro (a far better fielder) split playing time. The Reds will not miss the production from Lopez; he only had 9 homers and less than 30 RBI's. Castro and Clayton can put up numbers comparable and are better defensively.

I hate to see Kearns go, but Denorfia has been waiting in AAA for quite some time now, and it's time for him to shine. He will not hit for as much power as Kearns but he will give us more speed on the base paths and in the outfield. I think it was a good trade. I do believe we could have received better, more proven relievers, but this is our worst area by far and we have made the best effort of any team in NL to address the biggest trouble spot. Plus Kearns and Lopez will be in arbitration at the end of year and we would have to pay (Lopez) more money than what he is worth. I would be surprised if Lopez is still in the Majors 5 years from now. Now if we could get one more starter?
