The Israelis and most of our media are lying as usual.

But here's the truth people :)

"basically the current stage of what's going on -- there's a lot more -- begins with the Hamas election, back the end of January. Israel and the United States at once announced that they were going to punish the people of Palestine for voting the wrong way in a free election. And the punishment has been severe.

At the same time, it's partly in Gaza, and sort of hidden in a way, but even more extreme in the West Bank, where Olmert announced his annexation program, what’s euphemistically called “convergence” and described here often as a “withdrawal,” but in fact it’s a formalization of the program of annexing the valuable lands, most of the resources, including water, of the West Bank and cantonizing the rest and imprisoning it, since he also announced that Israel would take over the Jordan Valley. Well, that proceeds without extreme violence or nothing much said about it.

Gaza, itself, the latest phase, began on June 24. It was when Israel abducted two Gaza civilians, a doctor and his brother. We don't know their names. You don’t know the names of victims. They were taken to Israel, presumably, and nobody knows their fate. The next day, something happened, which we do know about, a lot. Militants in Gaza, probably Islamic Jihad, abducted an Israeli soldier across the border. That’s Corporal Gilad Shalit. And that's well known; first abduction is not. Then followed the escalation of Israeli attacks on Gaza, which I don’t have to repeat. It’s reported on adequately.

The next stage was Hezbollah's abduction of two Israeli soldiers, they say on the border. Their official reason for this is that they are aiming for prisoner release. There are a few, nobody knows how many. Officially, there are three Lebanese prisoners in Israel. There's allegedly a couple hundred people missing. Who knows where they are?

But the real reason, I think it's generally agreed by analysts, is that -- I’ll read from the Financial Times, which happens to be right in front of me. “The timing and scale of its attack suggest it was partly intended to reduce the pressure on Palestinians by forcing Israel to fight on two fronts simultaneously.” David Hearst, who knows this area well, describes it, I think this morning, as a display of solidarity with suffering people, the clinching impulse."

When the American people stop their government from sending a total of $90 Billion of their taxes to Israel to support their barbaric acts then the fighting will stop.

And also when the American people stop their governments from vetoing any chance of a peaceful settlement, then maybe there will be an agreement.

Although this conflict is about religion and territory, it is definitely not about oil. Trust me when I tell you that Hezbollah and Israel have no real concern about world oil supplies in this conflict. The reason oil prices are rising is because of speculators betting that that it will effect supply in other countries.

The conflict is basically as old as time. Many in the Middle East feel that Israel does not have a right to exist, and they feel justified in trying to destory the Jews. For the Jews it is about survival. Trust me if everyone in your neighborhood wanted you dead, you would be quick to fight also.

Israel has control of Jerusalem and every major religion in the area wants to control that city. It is the center of world religion for Islam, Judism, and Christianity.

There will be no peace for Israel or her neighbors as long as hard line Muslims continue to demand the eradication of Israel. The problem with this conflict is that it has the potential to involve many players. It could conceivably lead to world war.

As to being right or wrong. I don't know if either side is completely right, or completely wrong. However I could never side with any group that advocates the wholesale eradication of another group. In the case of terrorism, if terrorists would give up the idea that everyone has to be assimilated or destroyed then we could stop killing them, but in the case of Israel it has been stated time and again that they will not rest until the Jews are no more. This is unacceptable.

Dd: Nice little rant there it ignores some basic facts like historical precedent for the conflict. The fact that it has been the stated goal of both Hamas and Hezbollah to eradicate Israel. Stating that there were statements from the US government to the effect that we were going to punish the Palestinians for voting for Hamas is an outright lie. Lastly it ignores statements by Hamas that there will be no peace with with Israel ( this followed the election), and a declaration of open war against Israel by Hezbollah. You know I don't care who you support or do not support in the conflict, but you should at least try to be honest in your critcisms.

The problem in the middle east is about the Arabs not wanting the Jewish state. This conflict has been going on for centuries. The only way it can be stopped is when each side begins to exercises tolerance. It has nothing to do with the price of crude, that is set by OPEC. This nation has to start using other sources for fuel, or else we will go broke

Israel=Jewish
Lebanon=Muslim
Not the best of friends

It has to do with the fact that each feels that the creator has given them the right to be the only people that occupy Jerusalem according to the Hebrew bible. They have been fighting about this for a very long time.

Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers and said: "If you want them back, you have to give us all the Palestanian and Lebanon captives israel hold". Isreal said: "You can burn in hell, you little terrorsits, we're coming to kick your @sses".

So a war started and both sides are having a nice game with rockets. Just watch the play and enjoy. Don't come late again!

Pro Palestinian - Palestinian land was stolen, it's people mass murdered, imprisoned, tortured, maimed for years by the Israeli occupiers under the watch of international community which ahs done nothing – Check the link to show how many resolutions have been passed against Israel and vetoes by the US.

Israel has a strong army heavily equipped with American weapons paid for the American taxpayers, while Palestine has no army and no real weapons - except for the Palestinian people's physical bodies - What can they fight with other than their bodies if they have no other weapons?

What was Israel’s response to the capture of their soldiers? This is war, Israel’s response was to use the US weapons to kill civilians and destroy their homes, then to casually wander off to Lebanon and start shooting there. Then lo and behold – Israel starts war with Hezb Allah and when they fight back – Hezb Allah are the bad guys!

Was it the “bad “ Palestinians who murdered Rachel Corrie in cold blood running her over with a bulldozer or was it the Palestinians? Who has been shooting at reporters in Israel and Iraq to stop them to stop from doing their jobs?

Why is it when Israeli’s attack other’s it’s not on international news like when they are attacked? Have any of you read about the Christian tourists attacked by the Orthodox Jews? Of course not – it’s not propaganda news for the Israelis but if it were Palestinians, we would have definitely seen it repeated over and over in the news – Right?

I feel really bad for many people out there who are so afraid to question or look beyond what the media / government has brain washed them to believe.
What is so wrong to check out the information, a simple check to validate and know the truth or at least part of it – I would like to share some my efforts with those who are not afraid to have their beliefs shaken.
