Where are the land or house deed records if any kept?

land registry office.. try your local church records too..... and your local library. ssshhh!!

In the US they are kept at the Assessor's Office. I don't know what you call it in England (Cornwall sounds like England to me). Go to the local government office and ask where the deeds are recorded.
You can also check with the local Historical Society if you have one.

Do you have a local historical society? Otherwise you could try:

* Parish/District Council
* Library or local interest books
* HM Land Registry
* Your solicitor who may have access to pre-registration deeds and documents.

your local council can help you with the deeds and stuff but dont forget to ask to look at the census (or however its spelt!) because you will be able to see not only the names of the previous occupants, but religion, job, that sort of thing.

your local town office holds records of this home,which include previous owners who are always a good contact,there's also the public library which contains those types of records

Court House get deed history.

Library get photos and information related to the address and/or location.
