Sorry if that is a thick question I was thinking of getting an applemac laptop and didnt know if you could run messenger on it or not.

Yes you can. All Macs comes with ichat which allows you to run AIM/MSN/Yahoo Messager as well as other chats such as irc

I dont think MSN is currently compatible with a MAC O/S (as it is Microsoft-backed).

You can however buy/download a Windows Emulator which allows you to run in a simulated Windows Environment to run windows-based applications.

Yes you can, but its not as good as it runs on Microsoft.

My friend uses Mac and has msn on it.

yeah you can, my cousin has an apple computer and hes handling both yahoo and msn, so it must work in your computer why don't you try it?
