I would love to be a child again... life was so easy back then and so different... I had no idea what life was really about until I was about 25 years old, can you believe that?
The biggest disappointment about being an adult is that life ISNT like being a child... life is freaking hard!!

Sure being a child is much easier and more stress-free.. but I rather not be one again. All phases of life has unique good things in them. You just got to enjoy them in different ways. Adulthood is disappointing if you only look at the hardship. There're lots of fun in adulthood.

While I'd LOVE to go back to my childhood for the freedom and the learning experiences...that would be the ONLY reason! To be quite honest, I'd rather go back to my later teenage years (16-17, no older) as long as I could retain everything I know now! There would be a lot I'd do differently, which would include going to the Art College I was accepted at in Fort Lauderdale instead of getting married! One thing I didn't do, was pursue my education, except in the basest sense...and because of that, it's taken me until a few months ago, to finally get the job I'm perfect for, and I'm 48 now!
Knowledge IS power....but as a child/teen...you don't realize that until it's almost too late!
But I'm happy with who I am, and where I'm at now, although it's taken quite a few years of hard, back-breaking labor...but that makes one strong, and I'm a very strong woman!

I would absolutely love to be a child again. Just think....your only worries are school and playing. Kids are so carefree and have imaginations. Adults lose their imagainations. Who else but kids could play for hours with a cardboard box and have the imagination to turn a box into a fortress? They don't have to worry about paying the rent, utilities or other bills. They don't have to worry about pressures to get married, have kids or the pressues of a job. All they have to do is go to school and have fun. I think it's sad that kids can't realize this and enjoy being a kid instead of trying to be older. We spend out childhoods wanting to be adults and our adulthood wanting to be kids again.

I enjoyed being a child - partly because of innocence, I didn't understand a lot of what was going on around me.
But I'd rather know how things really are, know myself well and arrange life accordingly so that I can enjoy it as much as possible. Once you get past many of life's illusions, what's left is the same stuff that was best about being a kid.
I think kids are born wise and mostly get less wise because they're defenseless and exposed to so much BS. Lose the BS and life gets good again. We don't need to be chasing so many things that don't count. The best things are fairly easy, really.

I guess being the best part of being a child again is that unattainable innocence. You could get a good night sleep without any worries of the world, where the most important thing in the world is mommy, daddy, and the saturday morning tv shows; whereas as an adult, we have to pay taxes, are more worried about our social status, take on familial and work responsibilities... it's just a lot of weight on our shoulders.

Sometimes I wish I could go back. The other day I was driving and I heard a song on the radio that totally reminded me of when I was little and going to a lake with my best friends and our parents and it made me sad that I wasnt a little kid enjoying the summer again because these days it's all about working.
But then I think about it again and realize that where I am now is pretty cool too, and it has it's own advantages.
Mostly I really miss the innocence of it all though. Too many things to worry about these days...life used to be a little more enjoyable for that reason.
and sometimes I wish I could just go bike ride to buy candy with my best friend or run through my sprinklers or even go back to the house that I lived in when I was a kid and swim in the pool that we had or jump on our trampoline. Or play make believe in my tree house with the neighbors and climb trees in the woods behind my house.
oh wow, now I really want to go back!!
Great question.

In a perfect world children are protected pampered play time is fun time. And you think when you grow up you can do any thing, be any thing. No one says I want to be a chasier at 711 or I want to clean toilets for the rest of my life. And they you grow up and scramble to pay for you house, slaving away in a job you hate with a boss that is a demonic tyrant. and the next thing you know some tells you you are old. and you think what happen to all the fun stuff that was going to happen when I grew up?

Only if I forgot EVERYTHING and started again...
No adult should ever be allowed onto the same mental field as children. It would be harmful for both...
Imagine if you repeated that exercise a dozen times...
Teacher: "Everyone, welcome Joe, he's new to the school and our 8th grade class!"
Everyone: "Hi Joe!"
Joe: "Hi, ok allow me to introduce myself. I'm actually 324 years old, I hate social security but love public education... I've been married 11 times and already know some of you intimately... I know more about sex than you could find in Google and will be more than willing to share that info to anyone willing to ask... but don't judge me, I'm physically a 14 year old boy!"

adulthood?
a dull tea and hood!
i guess you know the difference between childish and childlike.
we should be childlike as adults but not childish anymore.
whatever you say, there is a child, adult and parent in all of us no matter whether we are a child, adult or parent. at some point each of them comes out forcefully. you can't help avoiding it.
