I mean we pay for a service were not using. That's wasting our hard earned money.I wouldn't mind it so much if we got something out of it. That's why the parents should pay. Not us single folks. Home school your children. It's cheaper on us single people. I just want to know what "service" we are getting. If I ever have a child, he or she wil be home schooled.

You may not be affected as far as not using the services immediately if you or your kids are not in school, but what if these kids were not educated? They'll be running the country one day and then you will be affected. The service you're getting is an educated generation. Would you rather someone with no education running the country because there were no tax dollars to educate him?

A public education system benefits society as a whole not just parents of school aged children.
In Ontario, we had the education system that you suggest back in the early 1800's. We also had child labour and lack of universal healthcare.
To quote :
“On the importance of education generally we may remark, it is as necessary as the light-it should be as common as water, and as free as air…”
Egerton Ryerson (1803-1882)
Father of Ontario's and Canada's public education system.

If there really is a school tax, consider that some poor single people out there paid for your schooling, so suck it up and find something important to whinge about!

Oh, and the service you get out of it is that there are less delinquints out there destroy things and commiting crimes etc.

Think of all the peace and quiet you get since those children are locked up most the day instead of wandering around the streets like they do during the summer.
