I was wondering because someone is purchasing something from me and they told me they are going to issue paymet via courier service. I think its the same as postal service, but I'm not quite sure. So, if anybody knows, please tell me. Thanks in advance!

A courier service can be set up by any private person, but cannot put anything in mailboxes. Courier services are unregulated so be very careful because if your pal gives his money to a courier and the courier disappears his money is not insured and you re out of luck.

The Postal Service is a federally regulated delivery service which has delivery and service guarantees. The USPS picks up and delivers to mailboxes at every home and business in the USA.

Internet usage and inexpensive phone service has really hurt revenue generation at the U.S. Post Office. People today send far less mail than they did even a decade ago. Different than, but analogous to, the print media, the Post Office must shift to consumer demand in some fashion to maintain solvency. Benjamin Franklin started the Postal Service. He of course, could not have imagined the manner in which business and people communicate today. To me, the question has become should America underright the losses the Post Office will continue to experience, or, should this still vital service be placed on the auction block for management in the private sector. I don't know the answer, but do fear, if we lose this service to America.

Courier service is practically the same as postal service. The only main difference is that the former is operated by private companies like Fedex while the latter is usually operated by governments.
