Maybe tactically bombing strategic targets is a 'disporportionate' response to a government sponosered terror group launching missiles indiscriminately into a civillian populace and abducting its people. And maybe headbutting someone is a 'disporporionate' response to a greaser whose only way of beating you is to insult your mom and sister. But sometimes, little children must get spanked or they won't learn their lesson. Europe stopped spanking their children and now have the biggest collection of cry babies and spoiled, ungrateful brats the world has ever seen. Sure headbutting the guy doesn't help the bigger problem the same way a military reaction doesn't help the bigger problem of terrorism. But doing nothing and acting like a pusillanimous pu-ssy does nothing either. Its a Catch-22 and that is why the debate will never end. It ends when the world ends.

OK but that depends on who is truly innocent. If those things were said, are Zidanes family members not innocent victims also. I mean Z maybe should have handled it differently, but I was not in his shoes at that moment. I am not as strong as some others on here in the sense that I cannot say I would or wouldn't have reacted in that or a similar way should someone say things like that about my mother or family. Just remember when you justify and condone insults to another, no matter who, as you have done, you contribute to making a bad situation even worse.

I like the italian team and am happy that they won the world cup.... BUT! I think Materazzi should be thrown off the team. He is a disgrace and is giving the Italian team a bad name! He's a bad player and is very very rude. He should not have said what he said to Zidane.... who by the way is the best football player on the planet. Materazzi is a digrace to his team and to the beautiful game...

Give me a break!!! Innocent people?!!!! Why don't you mind your own business!!! You weren't on the field and you can only speculate.....that doesn't mean that your opinion is correct!!! Only Zidane and Materazzi know the truth, and the truth is between what they both have said........

It's all in God's hands.
Materazzi is innocent so God finally gave him the Cup cos he deserved it.
Instead, God punished Liar Zidane by shame and dishonour and the whole world now blames him.
And france finally lost the game.
It's so easy to see who was right and who wrong !

Yeah, you somewhat correct.
Who is innocent is really solving a puzzle of 1000 pieces or a conflict between two robbers/criminals, etc.
But i fell Zidane is innocent, but if he was, he hadn't to head butt, but to go and complain to FIFA or the refs standing there.
