1. Pictorial Method

Write the number 12 on a square piece of paper, like so

[12]

Fold along the diagonal from the bottom-left to the top-right corner.

This is halving the 12, into two triangles.

Presto! You will find an inverted number 7 on one side of the triangular half. Just turn it the right way up. Done!

2. Roman Numeral Method

The Roman Numeral for 12 is XII

Cut a horizontal line across the middle of XII

You will get VII, which is the Roman Numeral for 7.

3. Calculation Method

Start with,

-1/1 = -1/1

Rearrange signs,

(-1/1) = (1/-1)

sqr(-1/1) = sqr(1/-1)

sqr(-1)/sqr(1) = sqr(1)/sqr(-1)

cross multiply,

sqr(-1) * sqr(-1) = sqr(1) * sqr(1)

sqr(-1)^2 = sqr(1)^2

-1 = 1

Add 13 to both sides,

13 - 1 = 13 + 1

12 = 14

12 = 2 x 7

7 = 12 / 2

Therefore 7 is half of 12

Nope. As a n undergrad of Engineering I love maths. and I don't like to see people making fun of it to this extent. Just joking, i can't do it. but i'm pretty sure the method you are using has a flaw somewhere.
I have met some people proving 1 = 2, but it invloved a division by 0 in the way.

to do this you have to state that you are assuming 0 is considered as the first number. write the numbers in a row and the 7th position out of 13 numbers would be the half of 12.

yes, 7 is the soulmate of 12. When you killed 7, it's like killing the other half of 12.

In Roman Numerals 12 = XII
Slice (horizontally) across the middle of XII and you end up with VII
Which = 7

=)
