Hi. Take the Mysore - Hassan - Mangalore route. The other one available is the Hunsur route, but more time will be wasted as the roads are very very bad....
Most of the time will go in hitting the brakes...

Mysore-Hassan-Mangalore will be the best route . There is another route via Hunsur, which will save a few kilometers but the roads are not so good.
Mysore Hassan road has been recently widened and the road through the ghats from Hassan to Mangalore is also quite wide and well maintained.

Take Yeshwantpur Vasco Express from Mysore, alight at Madgaon( 11 hours journey) then take any south bound train to Kankanadi/Mangalore.(6 hours journey).
The 1st lap is by noight travel, get nice sleep, take day journey from Madgaon, enjoy the beauty of beaches, seas almost touching the rail lines throughout, with beautiful landscape, mangroves, tunnels and bridges of Konkan railway. Catering is superb.Trains are frquent.Accomodation always available.
