Im a 19 year old gender queer kid from Austin Texas. i come from a very conservitive family that totally fliped out on me when i came out as being a lesbian 8 years ago. Now im almost 20 years old and i have to come out yet again as a mostly straight tranny man. I'd like to know how others that have been in my position handled themsleves.

A tricky one. But at the end of the day this is a decision that affects you more than them. You have to do the right thing by you. Honesty is always the best thing, and it seems that you are worried about losing their support.

Nevertheless, they love you and will support you. But all decisions in life have consequences and you have to be prepared to deal with them.

Good luck and keep your chin up and all will be fine.

you are you! your family should, and will, love you for just being you! i guarrantee it won't be the complete shock you think it will be, they may have an inkling already.....i have a family member who right from a baby i thought would be gay. family members said "no, but if he is, we will support him". he came out, just as i knew he would. it wasn't a shock, family was so accepting, grandparents too. i understand that you're case is a step further from "gay". maybe at first don't even say anything about being transgender, but just socialise with family as "the new you". then maybe you can tell them down them down the line? i wish you all the best, i have a few transgender friends.

Show like a dude at the family reunion and say that you are their long lost cousin Juan Pedro and let them put out a missing person on your other idenity....make sure you make photos made up of you dead in an alley and send them to your family in the mail to make it believable.

At the company Christmas party. Stand up on a table and show em' your goods, surgically corrected, and announce that you're looking for a "mate."

just tell them. call everyone together and just do it. if they can't accept you for who you are now that's their fault and you should move on. but if they don't accept you immediately, don't give up straight away.

good luck

Just life with it,
it's your life, not your parents.
your life is you to choose, your parents only help you to grow to become what are you now.

love is blind, can't see age, gender, physical, etc.
