The creative dept of an agency needs an army to sustain itself. Sketching really is not as important as having the creative bent of mind and ability to visualize. Considering that all agencies work primarily with photoshop and corel draw (plus some 3D software), as long as you can manipulate these, you're on dude!
Other part of creative is copy - a person who can think on his feet, come up with relevant punchlines and branding options and more importantly, is full of ideas, is indispensable. If you have the wit, intelligence and a creative spart, trust me, the industry sorely lacks these.
Third is strategy. If you think you can give directions to the brand (e.g. its a bad idea to talk about the bottle instead of the taste/quality of a soft drink), you will be lapped up in no time.
All the best!

Absolutely. If there is a will, there is a way. XD They always said that. Your determination has to be strong. Then try reading some books and try making use of stuff that can be re-used for crafts and stuff. It all depends on your interest. Then spend some time alone. Do some imagining. Create your own world in your mind. It's all about art, and life, man! I'm very happy you are sure of what you want to do.
Good luck, you'll need it! ;)
P.S: Like my new avatar? I'm not getting married though, lol

Look into copy writing. Ad agencies usually pair a writer and an artist together to come up with ads. You'll need a portfolio to show at job interviews so find a graphic artist friend to make ads with now, so you're portfolio can show off how well you work with artists.
Good luck!

I AM the in-house creative staff for a distribution company and I can't draw either- that is by hand. I create all the ads, brochures, fliers, etc. on the computer.
My advice is to learn all the necessary program- Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, QuarkXpress, etc. If you put your mind to it, you can probably learn enought skills to get you a job in about 1-2 years.

i really don't know what a creative depart is of the ad agency, but it sounds like something that uses computers, and if you can do neat stuff with computers, you don't need to draw, even though it is helpful, but computers today to so much stuff, people really don't need to do much with their hands anymore.
so i would say YES, and go for it. their is only one way to find out and that is to apply for the position, GOOD LUCK and keep a positive attitude.

Sure, you could get involved in traffic, the business side (dealing with agencies and shops), or even writing if you have a talent in that area.
