The only way to have one hard drive connected to another computer is by networking the two. With today's technology there are many ways to do this.

1. you can use network cards and run a Ethernet cable from one PC to the other but if the two computers are far apart you don't want the cable to show.

2. You can network the two computers using wireless technology, you don't have to worry about a Ethernet cable but when selecting a wireless router make shore that the router has a built in firewall. Also with wireless one PC needs a wireless receiver you can buy a add-on card antenna or a stand alone which is connected via USB.

or the third option is a pack that uses the electrical wiring in the house, you simply plug in the pack at one PC and the other pack where the other PC is then connect the pack to the computer with a Ethernet cable.

If the hard drive is installed on one PC and you want to access from the other of course network try PC to PC or also called Peer to Peer connection simply connect both of your PC with an ethernet cable -cross over, assuming that both of your PC has a LAN card/adapter.

Both of your PC will act as client.

1. If your using a 2 PC and you want to share files on same harddrive you should network your compter.

If you dont have any resources to network you computer
2. You could also purchase external harddrive case so that you connect your hard drive externally it's cheap external drive case uses a USB connector so that you could easily connect and share your files from one computer to another one at a time.

If you want to share it wirelessly try this

You can't use two pc's with the same hard disc at the same time; and usually to move the disc, you will need to reinstall the operating system. You need separate discs, most often, unless you use one bootable CD on one system, which loads an operating system, and you store the working files on the other pc's hard disc via a network. Both pc's need to be switched on, though. And on the PC you use a bootable CD with, all settings and programs you manage to install will be forgotten when you reboot.

Can't do it without networking as far as I know...then both computers must be on, and networked together. Even then the hard drive would only be accessable in a limited fashion to the "other" (non-locally-installed) computer.

As long as both PCs are in the same network, you should be able to see both for them.
