Sure they can be rigged with no way to check. What good is a printed card? It is only going to carry the same invalid information!

I don't trust them because you are always going to get someone to try something cute. Never fails!!

Up here during the Presidential election, the republican party was jamming the lines to the democrats so people were not able to get a ride to the polls! One person ended up charged in Federal District Court and was sentenced to jail!!

I wouldn't put it past people to rig them. One thing about electronic voting machines is that the Chant in 2004 would have been "Buchanan four more years" These people from Florida don't even know how to work their answering machines let alone a voting machine.

Allow me to point out what will happen when electronic machines produce a so-called 'paper trail' printout..

1) A Democrat will go into the voting booth, and deliberately cast a vote for the Republican Presidential Candidate...

2) The machine will spit out a paper, showing this person voted for the Republican candidate (which they did).

3) The person will scream that the machine is rigged, claim they "voted for the Democrat candidate, but the machine says they voted for a Republican."

4) Democrats nation-wide will whine that the only reason they keep losing election after election after election is because the voting machines are rigged against them by Karl Rove.

5) Therefore, the Dems will claim, all Republican victories are illegitimate.

6) The mainstream press will tote the Democrats' line for them.

7) Republicans will win, anyway.

(source: a high ranking Democrat I know in state politics has already told me that this will be one of the Dems strategies when they lose (inside high ranking Democratic circles, they believe they will lose in 2006 and in 2008).

EDIT: Good timing for this question:

Can anyone explain to me why Democrats believe that voters should not be required to identify themselves when they go to vote?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060717/ap_on_el_ge/voter_id;_ylt=AqLHe3DaCWxoKYdHvMkbt4Jp24cA;_ylu=X3oDMTA5aHJvMDdwBHNlYwN5bmNhdA--

The headline is:

"Democrats challenge new Mo. voter ID law"

"(Democrat) Officials in Missouri's two largest cities filed a lawsuit Monday to block a new state law requiring voters to show photo identification.

Under the law, voters starting this November will need a photo ID issued by either the state of federal government, such as a driver's license, to cast a regular ballot."

My, my,my... wonder why Democrats are so opposed to requiring people to actually produce identification when they go to vote?

vote casting machines can somewhat be hacked. there replace into even a action picture approximately it "Hacking Democracy". Why concern hacking the computing gadget equipment? That takes some technical information. it is plenty extra uncomplicated to stuff the pollbox. Tens of 1000's of lifeless human beings voted in our final election.

In isolated areas, there has always been vote rigging and tampering. But there is not nation wide plot just because your guy did not win last time out.

Wide spread vote tampering is not the American way.

Voter apathy is.

It was not all voting machines in the Bush-Gore election in FL. Paper was used then, also in some counties. If you remember the "chads".

Some parts of FL are talking about backing up the machines with paper also, for future elections.
