It's recomended not to format your hard disk too often, it'll shorten its life actually...

Yes it should. I means formating the hard drive makes the use of the Hard Drive more. I think it ok as long as the disk is not too full, then it might be ok. But formatting the hard drive will shorten the life span.

However, if its a good hard drive it should not affect it that much. I've had my computer for about 5 years and I have formated the hard drive around 5 or 6 times. Na its still fine.

There are my two cents

Surely will affect the lifetime.
Reformatting frequently will actually start regular system crashes
Software Installation dont complete, Too many bad sectors, etc, etc, etc
these all leads u to dump ur hard disk n buy a new one...

Use Formatting wisely!

No, all you're doing is what it normally does, and that is Spin.

Hard drives are like engines these days, they're made to work and can take a beating. Trust me, by the time your hard drive dies you'll have a new one.

Ps. Almost none of you guys have a clue what you're talking about. All reformating does it erase the hard drive and you do a fresh install of Windows. It doesn't shorten the hard drives life, what would give you that impression? Because the damn hard drive spins? Umm no. Reformating your computer in no way harms your computer.

Yes it will affect the life time of the hard disk.

It depends..."quick" formats don't actually erase data on the hard drive, just write over it, so under that scenario, your hard drive would use little to no life span no matter how much you reformatted it...a full format would, theoretically, cause wear on the drive heads, but unless you did this many many times, the lifespan of your drive would be long enough that you would replace it far sooner than it would die.

Yes, it slows down the system if you do it often. It's supposed to be a last-resort answer to a problem **usually**. So if you're having awful problems that often you should probably try and find the source instead of reformatting frequently.
