Suppose two people are cutting and shaping stones needed to build a Church, and you ask each of them the same question "what are you doing?"...
First one replies " Well, I am earning a livelihood for myself"
Second one says " I am engaged to build a Church"

Both do the same job, but the reply shows the difference. For the first person, it is more or less a job. For the second person, it could become his career !

job could be anything with short standings. A career is like a job, but it has the potential to be your occupation for most of your life. A job is something that can help support you through life, but only slightly. A career is one of those high paying jobs where you work most of the day but get a nice some of money to cover all of your expenses. Working at Burger King is a job. Working for a manufacturing company as their lead foreign representative and ceo is a career.

A job, for many people, is a daily routine, that they do not have that great an interest in. It is something they "do," to "get a paycheck, " or, until they find their "heart's desire," career.

A career, is a life-long vocation, such as a dentist, teacher, doctor, lawyer, accountant, astronaut, etc. It is a a "career, they prepared for, with many years of professional education.

A job is just something you go to everyday because you have to. A career is where you strive to better yourself to achieve more for you and the company. Typically, if a person is below bonus level employment (managers and up), it is just a job for them not a career.

A job is something that you do to pay the bills. A career is something that (hopefully) you will love to do for the rest of your life so that it doesn't even feel like work.
