The Kids- Lou Reed. Bar-none simply the saddest most depressing song ever. The whole album (Berlin) is probably the most harrowing experience ever commited to Vinyl. It would make Bobby McFarrin cry. For something more modern try Needle in the Hay by Elliott Smith.

Staind- Excess Baggage
Tim McGraw- Don't take the girl
Collin Raye- Holes in the floor of heaven
Collin Raye- Love me
I read a note my grandma wrote back in 1923
Grandpa kept it in his coat and he showed it once to me
He said," Boy you might not understand, but a long long time ago
Grandma's daddy didnt like me none, but I loved your grandma so
We had this crazy plan to meet, and run away together
Get married in the first towm we come to and live forever
But nailed to the tree where we supposed to meet instead
i found this letter and this is what it said
*If you get ther before I do, don't give up on me
I'll meet you when my chores all through, I don't know how long I'll be
But i'm not gonna let you down, Darling wait and see
But between now and then till I see you again
I'll be loving you..love me
I read those words just hours before my grandma passed aways
In the doorway of a church where me and grandpa stopped to ray
I know I never seen him cry in all my fifteen years
But as he said those words to her
His eyes filled up with tears
*
And between now and then till I see you again
I'll be loving you... love me

the saddest song that I've heard is the song "The Christmas Song" by a band called Newsong. It'll melt any heart of stone ...another one in my view is the song "A Few Questions" by Clay Walker, very good lyrics and a wonderful country ballad.
