Yes, they are...beginning with 9/11. I don't feel the need to explain further...as most people who have answered - have really said it already.
Pipi brings up a good point.......
Where are we to move to should this escalate? England is under the same control...and in as much danger of losing their rights as we are. Canada will soon follow.
I fear there's no where to go...and I certainly don't know how to stop it. Especially since there are so many idiots in this world that are just "tired of hearing about this" or "are happy that they can still go to 7-11". And the guy who said we are a country of "over inflated egos" for talking about "THEIR freedoms"....where the hell do people like this guy come from? If they aren't OUR freedoms........then who's are they???
I have to say that I am more afraid of people like him and his ideas (which are spread to his children, etc) than I am of the current administration that is doing this...because it's people like that guy that give me no hope that anything will ever change....because it's up to us to change it. If we think like that guy...how will we ever be able to do that?

I'm fairly sure that's the case in America, and certain it is here in the UK.
People in fear act like sheep. They are easier to control. I claim to know the motivations of the politicians, but I do feel that if we don't do something soon, then we won't be able to do anything.
The Commander of the Met announced on the eve of the anniversary of the 7/7 bombings that another attack on London was only a matter of time. Fear will force people to allow new controls over our lives. I do not believe they are necessary. We with stood the IRA bombings, which were far worse (for the record, I'm half Southern Irish, half Swedish, and live in the UK). Why is this different?
If it doesn't change soon, I'm moving back to the bog, in Galway, where I might have a small change of maintaining my civil liberties, or at least the right not to be spied on my own government.

What I want to know is why everyone thinks they are so important that the government is listening to THEIR phonecalls or why the hell George W wants to destroy THEIR freedoms... talk about a country of over-inflated egos... I think the biggest scare tactic here is the Dem's talking about "losing all our freedoms"... last time i checked, nobody was trying to stop me from voting, going to 7-11 or talking to my daughter on the phone (and i didn't hear a 3rd party breathing, either), get real, people... what would all those senators and representatives have to gain by YOU not being able to listen to your music or walk around naked in your house or whatever rights you think they're trying to take? PARANOIA is running wild --- fueled by the scare tactic of "they're taking your rights"...

Yes, and yes.
9/11 was used as a scare tactic no matter what anyone says. I recommend everyone research all those "Crazy conspiracy theories" themselves. Read it, can't hurt. It's hard to argue with them now.
One main thing that bothers me is that laws that violate the constitution are being passed.
It is our duty as Americans to uphold our constitution before the government.
It is the right of a people to abolish and replace a government when it interferes with the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Our liberties are going, next it's life and finally...well you get the idea.

Drumming up patriotism, protecting children, avoiding foreign wars and traitors in our midst, all in an effort to gain popular support for consolidating power in a single ruler? I think the Romans started that, maybe the Greeks. Bush is just learning, or maybe discovering from himself, an ancient history lesson.
The video is very funny, and it points out how amateurish and obviously false the adminsitration is on the issue. Shame on anyone for taking them seriously. I don't think he is trying to limit personal freedom for its own sake, just trying to consolidate power in the Presidency so that he, his party, and his religion can weild more influence. Too bad, the problem itself is real, he's just using it for an end that has nothing to do with solving the problem.

Yes. This has been undertaken for the past 40-50 years...it is not new. Our Bill of Rights has been usurped by fine print for years, and people are still not smart enough to realize it. We are compromising while the government is taking away our freedoms!
Support the ACLU!

9/11 was a steaming pile of tripe. Lies, all of it. Want to know the REAL truth about 9/11? Go here:

And yes, they are slowly stripping away our rights, or watering them down to the point where they are practically non-existant.

yes, how many false alarms have we had!!!
And quite frankly, I refuse to live in fear and I don't want one of my liberties touched by that lying sleazeball in the white house.
If they explode a bomb here then that's the price of freedom.
Too many people have died keeping our freedoms. I certainly won't just turn them over to the government!!!
