i have a 40 gallon saltwater, with no fish yet, plenty of liverock and corals, and cocopods critters that swim around a healthy tank. i love the idea that the fish will make burrows all around my tank in my 4 inch deep substract. i dont want it to have to be feed three times a day thguogh, but twice is ok, and i hear some need a refugium? i dont have that, and never will, so if they need that then dont sugest that spieces,

one of the shrimp\goby pairs would be great. (the orange striped prawn gobies are real cute and you can get a pistol shrimp to go with hito share the burrow) If you have a lot of rock and don't overstock your tank you should be ok without a fuge. (At some point you might find yourself wanting one and the hang on back ones work well and are not complicated at all to install, and dont take up much room) Jawfish are neat to - just make sure you have an absolutely secure lid as even though they seem to make their homes in burrows in the gravel they are notorious jumpers and make themself carpet jerky.

The engineer goby would be batter since they are small enough that you could keep a few in the tank (which makes them more fun to watch). A refugium would be necessary for only mandarin gobies wich aren't gobies at all.
