I am right handed. When I paint my right hand nails with my left hand I get really frustrated because I can't do it as perfectly as I would if I were using my right hand. I even find myself holding my breath sometimes. Does anyone else feel extremely anxious when doing this?

Place your right hand flat on a table.
Do the pinky first and work your way in, so you don't have to reach over the nails you've done already and possibly smudge them.
When painting, place your left hand on the table to brace it... you will have much better dexterity this way, than if you try to hold your hand in mid-air.

I stopped painting my nails a long time ago and switched to nail-buffing. This gives a natural look, which is shiny and can't be smudged, bubbled or otherwise screwed up. Nail polish will not stick very well to buffed nails, but you will be able to paint for special occasions. Also, my nail salon, where I get my toes done, only charges 5 bucks if all you want is paint, and not the full manicure treatment. That's worth it in my opinion.

Haha yes! To be honest with you, I'm typing to you with one set of painted nails (left) and one that is not (right). I was almost done painting my last two nails on my right hand when I suddenly smudged the polish on my finger so I grabbed a moistened cotton ball and accidentally rubbed my thumb and index nails in the process. Frustrated but still determined to finish, I painted them again... only to move a strand of hair away from my face, thus smearing the polish! I just gave up and removed all the polish from my right hand. Oh yeah... black and white nails are so in this season! hahaha.

Don't worry, you're not alone! I am right handed too, and I know what you mean. I always seem to mess up when I'm painting with my left hand. I get totally frustrated and sometimes I think of giving up altogether! nowadays, I ask my best friend to do my right hand for me. My friend doesn't seem to mind, cause I do her right hand for her too! Why don't you try that out?

I honestly don't have this problem. I even paint designs on my right hand with my left one(I'm right handed). The best advise I can give is just try to take your time while painting your right hand. Maybe try doing them at a table where you can rest your arms on top to help stedy your hands. & remember if you mess up you can just wipe it off & try again. Try not to get frustrated, the more aggrivated you get the more you're going to mess up

Try using an empty drinking glass turned upside down as a hand rest for your recessive hand. The idea is to use the glass/hand rest to keep your recessive hand still while you apply the polish by moving your dominant hand under the motionless brush. Let me know how this works for you.

Use clear/sheer polishes if you're not very neat. I do my nails all the time- even french manicures, you'll gain dexterity in your left hand.

I know the feeling. I also get annoyed if I drink a caffinated drink beforehand and my hands are shaky.

Very! I hate it! And to paint your toes you need to be a friggen contortionist! That's why I just gave up and decided to pay someone to do it for me..... it's sooooo worth it.
