I am getting ready to purchase my first crotchrocket and I would like to know people's advice and opinions on what they believe is an appropriate sized crotchrocket. I still consider myself a novice rider, although I was tought how to ride on 2001 Suzuki Hayabusa and can ride decently. Please let me know what you think. If there's any consideration of my size, I am about 5'4", 120 lbs. Thanks.

go with a 600. im sure you are a great rider but you will have an easier time controling it in a bad siuation. also lay it on the ground you need to be able to pick it up yourself. gsxr are nice

If you want a crotch rocket, Hyabusa is not a good first bike. They go straight really good but suck really bad in turns. I think that an ideal bike for you would be a Ninga 250 or 500. There long and stable but more nimble than a busa. theres always the honda iterseptor, but there crap in all categoreys. You do want something that is light enough for you to be able to pick up by your self if it falls over. It happens. Power to Weight ratio is totally irrelivant for novice riders, you will never notice the differnce. Busa's are super powerfull, and so most bikes even 1000's will seam slower in a way. So get something small and then upgade. Theres always E-bay. The only other thing that you want to concider is what type of rideing you WANT to do. Do you want to go straight really fast or do you want to be able to turn on a dime, do you want to cruise with your girles or keep up with the guy's. Any bike that you choose will do 100mph. Some will just get there more violently than others. Think about all of these things and then make your decision. You will be much happier in the long run...

Wow...you learned on a Busa?

To the question at hand though...like several others said the 600cc class has your name all over it. With the way the powerbands are increasing these days a 6 is more than enough bike to do anything you'll probably ever need to do. I'm a gixxer rider for life so I'm prejudiced towards the GSX-R600, but objectively speaking I do believe its the best overall 600 and in the latest testing wars I think it took top honors for that class. I've ridden them all and it does offer the easiest ride and most forgiving. I started out on a Gixxer 750 and I remember that thing allowing me to pull moves I never imagined. It pulled me through many jams and I know the new 600's are even more advanced than my 750 was so I doubt you could go wrong.

When you get ready for the big boys come take a ride on my boosted 200mph Gixxer 1000....Simply sick!!!

I agree that a 600 would be ideal for you - I'm about your size. I have the ZX6R and I absolutely love it.

I'm a speed/power freak, and this bike is actually fast enough for me! At the same time, it's light enough that I can throw it around.

On the other hand, if you learned on the Hayabusa, you may feel that you can handle a heavier bike, and might want to start with something bigger than a 600.

If you liked the weight and feel of the 'busa, start looking at a 750.

i've just bought my first crotchrocket.i went with a 2006 ninja 650.it was a low center of gravity, partly because to exhaust and muffler are all underneath the bike,so u have all that weight stayin low.it provides a more stable ride, plus it helps u whip in and out of traffic with little or no problems.the power is very good, good in the mid-range rpms.its not as expensive and a gsx600 or any of the other 600cc class bikes. its only runs at about $6299 (msrp),so its a great bike for a great price.the seat height is lower than that of a ninja 500,so u wont have any trouble with that. i'm only a little taller and a little heavier than u, so if i can handle, u can handle. its a fairly fast bike, good response. its has a very sporty look, and there are alot of aftermarket mods for it. its dry weight is 383 lbs,a bit heavier than other 600cc bikes, but not by much. in my opinion, the 2006 kawasaki ninja 650 is the best 600cc bike on the market right now.

look ive worked with motorcyles along time kid. its fun but i gotta say something. . . buell hybusa... i wont ride them... im from KC and my cousins a cop. 50 percent of wrecks on motorcycle are hybusa, buell and other simmilar bikes over 600cc with new, unskilled riders. it takes ALOT of experience to handel and hybusa, and seriously, its not worth getting your head split. buy a small 250-400 cc motorcycle... try a duel purpose bike like a kawasaki klr250 klx 250 or whatever. then you can explore your feel. it sits you up and keeps you focused. youll learn that way. plus its cheap and you will probly wreck it once before you get good. its a duel purpose so you can take it off road and see if you like motorcross. ive raised alot of motorsport fans and ill tell ya.... when you start motorcyles with a duel purpose you end up getting addicted and loving it forever. plus it help make you a well rounded rider and its gona be great for your size. i started danny greg and mike on klr klx 250's i have 4 and they all are experienced well versed riders. danny-motorcross... mike-harley greg-choppers and cruisers. we build bikes now. they love it cause those bikes are small easy to handle and i gotta say gre and mike both layed them over at 40 and 50 and those things keep you guarded 100x better than a rocket. Novice riders dont need crotchrockets... its an extremely DANGEROUS idea for you me and all the other riders on the road. please consider a more appropriate bike for everyones sake.

My brother and I bought 2 new bikes for a summer vacation. His 1200 Bandit leaked gas and ruined the motor before it got 2000 miles. We asked Suzuki to replace the motor so we could go on vacation. They said it’s to expensive and would cost $3000. After 4 months and the vacation gone they got the motor rebuilt at a their cost of $3700. The dealer wanted to replace the motor but Suzuki squashed that. The gas stained cases and burnt exhaust pipes were not replaced. The bike got nicked and scratched all over from being apart for so long. The rep rode it and looked at it, then said it’ good as new. It ran like crap and looked worse. We called Japan for nothing, and even wrote the US CEO all for nothing. We spent $15,000 for the bikes to get Fd. We spent our vacation hassling with Suzuki, and not one person there gave a F! Beware Suzuki’s warranty is not worth the paper it’s printed on! Buy one of their lemons are get Fd like we did!

well if you are confident and feel you can ride a bike larger than a 250cc i think a the cbr600f4i is a great lets not use the word beginner but a developing riders bike. plenty of power, smooth, reliable, can buy brand new or second hand, and all round honda have a great after sales service.

well in my opinion u mst go for a bike of 250cc class coz hybussa is a very fast bike and this is not fit for the starters . so 1st go for 250cc than 500cc and after riding it for few months than go for a hybussa or any bike of 990cc class . ok
