A couple of my friends have a (tom) cat called "Rizhko" - it comes from "Rizh", which is red-head, but it's a familiar form, used for someone / something smaller.

In Romania we name dogs "Grivei", "Labus" (diminutive for paw), "Rex" (that's universal i think), "Laica" (borrowed from our russian neighbours), "Azorel" . Cats are named "Miti", "Misu", "Smotocel"

i named my dog "lazy", coz it was very lazy when it was a pup. now it isnt but the name just remained so.
my friends have dogs named "Rocky", "Rambo", "Tarzan", "Stupid"...
