The poetry above all, it's the finest form of art in my opinion, the poetry is the reflection of one's soul throughout time and the reflections of life, a novel is simple, easy to follow, a lot of details etc but a poem can say more then 10 novels at once, about love, about beauty, about life and death etc..all the things that really matter. The poetry rose gods from children, it expresses the perfect beauty of women above all other arts...the torments of the artist's soul are carved into words like in stone, with the gentle hands of an angel...although there are wonderful novels too, no novel could ever merge the profound with beauty as that it is here, so complex, so pure. A poem can lift your soul so high and feel the experience of your life time...

Depends on the author and the content of the novel or poetry. But, in the general sense I would prefer to read a novel.

I'd rather read a novel. To read a whole book of poetry is just to dragging. IMO, a book of poetry should not and cannot be read from cover to cover, just like a book of short stories. The reader should feel free to jump around to the poems that interest him/her.

I would much rather read a novel. The only reason I never took the AP literature exam was because I hate poetry and cannot make any sense of it. If it wasn’t for poetry, I could’ve aced that test and skipped at least 6 courses in college.

I like reading both but I think I'd rather read a good novel and write my own poetry.

I would much rather read a novel. I enjoy following the story line and putting myself in the plot of the story. I have to think too much when I read poetry. :-)

It kind of depends on my mood, I suppose. Right now? Poetry. Because I can just flip to a random page and start reading. However, I go into phases where I want to lose myself in a story and nothing quite does it like a good novel.

Well, if I'm laying in bed on a dark night, and it's pouring down outside and cold, I like to be involved in a good novel. If, on the other hand, I'm sitting on a hilltop on a sunny afternoon with the woman I love having a picnic a small book of poetry fits right in.
