More specifically to cut or for in the garden? For in the garden some lillies require filtered shade or morning sun only, while others take full sun like daylillies... Which are a great choice as they can thrive in different exposures and have a long blooming period, but come in a limited array of colors in comparison to roses. Roses normally require full sun and can have just as long or longer blooming period, and can climb on trellises, gates,and fences, they can come in the form of trees or shrubs. Of course their fragrances are so different, Lillies are beautiful so are roses.... It's really such a personal preference thing. In a vase long stemmed roses are so classic. Lillies can have a noxious fragrance in a closed room, cala lillies have such a classic line to their form, they are so striking and they do not have an offensive odor........................I can't choose.

Roses! Romantic and beautiful. Lillies' fragrance makes me sick... Too strong for me. Also, you don't want to get pollens on your clothes. It won't come off easily.

Roses are so much better and have variety of color that can go with the mood.
roses are feminine and classic...but it depens on the color...for ex red is wild...and sexy
