Some say a ouija board works from the vibration in the fingertips touching the pointer and that is what makes the pointer move around the board. Some say it is ghostly spirits, some the devil or other evil entity. Others say it is the power of the mind. Still others say static electricity. I have used a ouija board and, with my fingertips and a partner's fingertips above the pointer, it has moved around the board. It has spelled out answers to questions and it has spelled out the name of the spirit it was communicating with. Therefore, my personal belief is that it is communication with spirits. I felt that I had invited evil into my home by using the ouija board and destroyed it. I performed a house blessing and have never used one again. You decide.

For starters I'm not a jerk but I will answer the question. Ouija boards are powered by spirits. It takes two people to communicate with them. Always be careful spirits cannot predict the future, they are bad spellers and they lie often. Make sure you always tell them good-bye when finished or you may leave an evil spirit out.

Oujia board? You have you and two other people put your fingers on the piece that comes with. There is a clear circle in the center. You then "ask the spirits questions" and they supposedly answer you by moving the plastic piece to either say yes, no, or spell out answers. I don't know why they freak out that other person, because it's probably just your friends moving the piece around. I mean, come on!

"Ouija" boards work by harnessing demonic forces to answer questions by allowing these demons to guide a “stylus” on a wooden board with numbers and letters to spell out answers to questions asked of them.
WARNING!!!
Information gained from "Ouija" boards should be taken with a boulder of salt. Demons can not speak with dead loved ones and are just making up most of the answers based on what they know about you and your family from walking the Earth for so long. Keep in mind many of these demons know some telling secrets about deceased relatives due to the fact they are immortal and have memories of your great grandparents and even further back. These demons can also converse with one another to “Cheat” and find out any information commonly known to beings who have walked the Earth for millennia. I suggest burning your "Ouija" board if you own one and discourage the use of them if at all possible. They do not provide truth nor knowledge but always provide lies to guide you to greater acts of evil. STAY AWAY!!! DANGER!!!

A Ouija board works through subliminal suggestion. However, I would suggest avoiding them as much as possible. Anything benevolent out there that has a message for you will make itself apparent. Ouija boards seem to attract the bored and malevolent spirits out there who will tell you things to frighten you - and once you've invited them into your life, they are HARD to get rid of. Every person I know who's messed with a Ouija board regretted it afterward.

The ideomotor effect. It's possible for the mind to unconsciously effect movement, so that the oujia board says things that you are making it say, without realizing you are the one controlling it.
Much more likely, however, you've been conned by a friend who was lying when she swore she didn't move it on purpose.

Its called a ouji board... most people think it is 'spirits' controlling it but it is actually the subconcious mind of the person controlling it if you are using it properly, as described in the anarchist cookbook
