The attacks are not against Lebanon, even though they are happening in Lebanon. The attacks are against Hezbollah strongholds in that country. The Lebanese have every opportunity to join forces with Israel and help push Hezbollah out of Lebanon.

short version - territorial strive against for thousands of three hundred and sixty 5 days. yet overlook about that, overlook about 10 years in the past, let look at present day: present day version - Israel moved their people out of the Gaza Strip, and gave the land lower back to Palestine, as a gesture of Peace. yet there are difficult liners on both facet that do not favor peace, they particularly hate to the useless. yet Peace replaced into plausible between Israeli and Palestine if given more suitable time (i imagine or wish). yet, even as all this replaced into occurring, Hezbollah with help of Syria and Iran set up guns website in South Lebanon, they been controlling Lebanon's authorities for a lengthy time period. Their objective is to wipe Israel off the map. Israel ought to have had peace with Palestine, yet too many different acquaintances needs Israel now to not exist. So, it somewhat is why this is going on. all of them (Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, others) keeps carry previous histories to backup their Hatred for another. they won't be able to drop each thing and characteristic peace now. someone will always raise the previous. this is going to be the strive against to the useless, it somewhat is the purely way that area will ever have peace. authentic unhappy!!

The southern part of Lebanon is controlled by Hezbollah -- not the Lebanese government. The Hezbollah group captured some Israeli's, and are continuing to shoot rockets and mortars into Israel The Lebanese government won't intervene because they fear civil war between the Sunni's and the Shiite's. Israel is defending itself from outside attackers - again.

It's a retaliation for the kidnapping and murdering of 2 soldiers by the Hezbollah in Lebanon. The Hezbollah is funded by Iran and Syria, and some of the rockets launched at Israeli cities in the past week were Iranian-made.

Israel is making a clear statement to Lebanon to stop harboring and supporting crazy terrorists. Enough is enough. Israel is fed up with its neighbor Lebanon supporting crazy terrorists. Lebanon needs to step up to the plate, and give a big boot to the terrorists! What is it going to take for Lebanon to stop supporting terrorism?
When Lebanon supports terrorism, that means that Israel is not safe. Lebanon can be Israel's greatest ally, as long as it provides security for Israel. If Lebanon makes their country a "no-terrorist" zone, then that means that terrorists won't be able to penetrate Lebanon to get to Israel.

i doubt anyone truly believes that bombing them will lead to the release of the captured soldiers. not exactly self defense as it leads to great conflict.
It is negative reinforcement as it is called in psychology text books, a punishment, like beating a dog or a child that has done wrong, in the hopes that they will not do it again. As us bleeding heart liberals have come to think such actions are wrong and often not productive. 1. they teach violence, as is the student will become the teacher someday. Abused children abusing thier children or even thier parents when they become strong enough. 2. Such learning is only effective when you are present, the animal will continue to do as it pleases the moment you turn your back or whenever he thinks he can get away with it. They have not learned the value of peace or love, they only obey out of fear.
