In my opinion, there is tie in my opinion between Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford, and George Bush 41. Underrated presidents, but they are extremely intelligent, well informed, and can look at the situation with some bipartisanship. It is quite interesting that the 3 of them, being from opposite parties, are really good friends.

I do not think it is an individual. I very much agree with one of the answers to this question, "The Dalia Lama." However, he would not agree with that assessment because his idea of an understanding of the human reality is based on the awareness of human interdependence.
Humans do not have an independent notion of reality in any significant matter. It appears that we do, but reality is shared event. We as observers have an impact on reality. Even the speed of light is relative phenomena. .
If we want peace in the world, than we must ask ourselves, "what is peace, how do we achieve it, once achieve, how do we keep it an so on.
Another one of your answerer's suggested that each individual had to contribute to peace if we are to have peace. Well, I agree with that also.
We must intend to have peace. We must know what peace is and conduct ourselves accordingly.
In other words in my reckoning, we have to start by creating a language that describes peace. Peace is not just the absence of war. Peace is and of itself a condition that we work to attain and maintain. Peace is precious creation, a living way, a sound and a taste and a part of all the beautiful things of life, like the innocence and youth of children.
So who is the most logical peacemaker in the world, today? The answer is all of us, and you or me, or our forgiven enemy. Our wife, daughter and son. Our leadership that sees the absolute necessity of killing no more.
The beauty of it is that it is only a single step away for each of us with the guts to try.
One condition I think that may be necessay is that we, the people each of us, understand that the past, future and the present happen at the same time within each of us. This probably seems really strange, but think about the connections between us.
Thanks for the question

Each individual living and walking the face of the earth! We all could do something to promote world peace - if we truly desired! As long as you look for one person to become the logical peacemaker - you won't have any kind of peace! Individuals - just everyday individual citizens of any and all countries could do more to ensure peace than any one individual! If we as individuals were truly doing something to demand peace - we would probably be going in that direction - but as you can see - that is not truly the direction that anyone wants to go! So please stop looking for world peace in a "logical peacemaker," - peace is the result of a group desiring peace, working collectively as a group to maintain peace - not any one individual! War is the result of a group desiring war, working collectively as a group to maintain war - not one individual! What do you believe we are working towards?

Twinklecomfort has the most correct response.
EACH Individual Human on the planet has a reponsibility towards Peace. Some of the other post claiming America, Presidents Carter & Ford, Dali Lama, etc. are divorcing themselves from the responsibility that is within themselves. If the question is up long enough, the prophets Budda, Muhammed, and definitely Jesus will be on the list. Many U.S. Americans believe this to be the responsibility of Jesus. How inconsiderate & trifiling of them? Jesus did not make the mess yet is supposed to clean it.
W.E.B. DuBois after the atomic bombs were dropped circulated a Peace Petition. The administrators of U.S. American gov't ask him to file as a foreign agent. It would seem that Peace is the enemy to the administrators of this gov't, after all its material gains, world dominance, & global influence has been accomplished by violence, theft, usury, slavery, lies, and genocide. This includes the acquistion of 49 of its 50 states.
That being said, I do believe that those who have more, more should be expected of them. U.S. Americans should lead by example, despite the inhumane means that she has obtained her wealth. The home of the Statue of Liberty should set the example as such and be held accountable to do so. The place where Freedom of Religion & to worship garunteed in writing, home to a variety of world religions which all have at least prophet which states that at the very minimum, "we treat each other as we want ourselves to be treated."
The disease of the "7 deadly sins" is metastisizing. Humans on the Earth have/are not being honest with themselves. Humans have lazy in pursuit learning, which means they are unlikely to understand the importance of Being Human or Human Being and as a result are likely to be cowardly in their resolve for the unalienable right endowed by their Creator.
The oppression we see of the U.S.A. in the History, homes, schools, workplace, agencies, streets, etc. is a crossetional microcasm of the planet in the near future and a sad commentary on individual behaviour.
Humans are not living to full potential, perhaps because they do not realize their worth. It is easy to say that is for someone else to fix if your individual worth is not realized.
Human effort, Human endeavour, Human intellect, & Human Intelligence, live in that untapped resource we call the Human.
If there are benevalent extra-terrestial life whose science & technology exceeds ours, were to visit us now, they might obligated to slay us as beast, if they did not then embarrassment alone should kill us.
Individuals active in personal development make the best collectives. We need one another. Not rhetoric, but substance. We have important work to do.

I would agree with the above answer and repeat: The Dalai Lama.
It seems to me that Buddhism is the one philosophy (it is not a religion) that has remained uncorrupted. However if you wish to call it a religion, let us compare it to Christianity and Islam. No war has been waged in the name of Buddhism; there were never any Crusades, Inquisitions, excommunications, child marriages, fanatics or any violence whatsoever conducted in the name of Buddhism. Furthermore, the Dalai Lama seems to be the one spiritual leader who has abstained from secularism unlike, for instance, the Pope who owns land in Vatican City.

The major problems are between Muslims and non-Muslims. To date, the only person to have brokered a peace between these groups that has lasted is Jimmy Carter. (Egypt and Israel) As a Nobel Peace Prize winner and former president, Jimmy is a man of peace.

Condoleeza Rice is the best candidate for the position. Have you heard her speak? She is a savvy diplomat, confident in her words, sincere in her approach, and she won't take any crap. I think she's capable of helping the world come to peace if she's ever given the opportunity.
