In a "love" movie I guess I'd have to say when one of the lover's is killed or if one of the two people hurt the other one and they get caught and the person on the movie is crying and hurt. In a drama I know it's just all about the emotion the actors show.

Watching relationships between parents and children come to a realization. Or between a husband and wife (a la The Notebook ~ OMG tearjerker). Those would be for the drama ~ everyone has common threads of longing or knowing how these relationships work (or don't work) and how we would like them to be (or at least to be better).
As for scary ~ I am afraid of my children suffering at the hands of another person and I am unable to do a thing about it.

Really, the music/sound effects have to be synced with what's happening in the movie for me to cry or be scared.

Movies never make me cry. The only time I cry is when I'm really pissed off at someone or something.

Seeing children hurt and crying. Also, seeing someone accomplsih something against all odds. That gets me, too.

Scarey is the unknown - unseen...like Blair Witch Project.
"Cry" do you mean
weepy happy sappy
orrr
sad and blue misery.
"Private Ryan" - old guy at the cemetary at the end...cry
"Last Samurai" - battle wounded warrior returns "home"...cry
"Patriot" - mel Gibson goes off to war and little girl whos mute calls to him...cry
"Crash"...little girl jumps between daddy and gunman to protect daddy....cry
But if you want to see me miserable
...show me poor white trash without talent...
like Eminem...
doing something that makes him successful...
misery

i usually cry when there's a unity scene, eg two persons like son and father are uniting at the end, or when someone whom i adore dies :(
