You should leave it open if you are not sure what to put. If you are starting out you don't want to put too high because they won't be ready to pay you that much. It's only when you are professional you can bargain salary. At the start you just want to find a job and move your way up from there.

You should put either what you made at your last job (plus or miYou should put around what you made at your last job, or the amount you think you deserve to be paid based on the type of work you are applying for. This can potentially hurt you, if a company sees you expect to make x amount and they are only willing to pay y, they may pass on you. Usually you would negotiate though.

I normally answer "Negotiable". That leaves it open to discussion at your interview. They will not consider you at all if you enter a figure that is too much above what they are planning to pay. May consider a little more if you have lots of what they're looking for in a new employee. It is for their info and gives them an idea of what their interviewees will be expecting for opening wage.

It depends on the job. You can always ask for two dollars above the usual pay. I've done that and received a dollar more. All they can say is no. Have a great day.

Put down "Negotiable".

That way you are not trapped into a wage set by your self before you know what it pays.

I assume this is your first job. Best thing to do in this situation is to leave it blank, or write, "open for discussion", this question is usually used to weed out all the "idiots" same thing with the one about stealing.

Usually you can put open or will discuss at interview because if they pay $7.50 for example and you put down $6.50 they most likely will pay you $6.50

I have always put open.
If you put it too high, you may not get the job. If you put it too low, you may get what you asked for.
Leave it open and discuss the pay in person.

Don't put it in an application. That should be discussed in person.
