As long as your water hasnt broken, take a warm bath and relax. Do some breathing exercises (counting to 5 while breathing in, then 5 breathing out). Close your eyes and just try to relax. Also, pain in labor is normal. To decide if its true labor, whatever you're doing now, change that behavior. Such as, if you're sitting, try walking. If the pain is the same, try lying down for a bit. If the pain remains, go to the hospital and make the doc check you. Many times, we have to be advocates for ourselves. Doctors will, at times, not take your word for it. You have to make sure they understand you aren't being overly sensitive. Make sure they understand that you are truly in pain! Have your fiance' come with you to the hospital to back you up. Best of luck!

It sounds like you're experiencing sacroiliac pain, otherwise known as pain of the pelvis. It's completely normal but certainly worthy of a return trip to the hospital. Look, don't take any chances. See your doctor, just in case something is going on in there. If you'd like more info, here's a link to a webMD page that discusses the types of pain that can be experienced during pregnancy:

As I said before, don't take chances. Let a medical professional figure out what's really going on.

first of all, if the pains come in waves, time them when they get down to 5 minutes between the end of one and thestart of the next, go to the hospital. If they don'tcome on waves, they could be caused by a pinched nerve, and sometimes that it more painful than labour. A hot shower should help relax the nerve endings.

I went to the hospital and was sent home because I was only a half centimeter dilated. I was back within seven hours, dilated to eight centimeters with broken water. Things move fast. If you're in that much pain, get back to the hospital ASAP!

this sounds like what happened to me, they gave me the choice to go home, or take morphine so that I would relax and let my body do it's thing cuz they said I was too tense.
So, my advice to take some tylenol PM and get some much needed rest. You'll especially need it for your delivery! tylenol is ok while you are pregnant I took it that last week I was pregnant cuz I was really sick and I was in early labor for a week prior and so I needed sleep!
good luck, get some rest and I'm excited for you! :)

You are in labor and you NEED to go BACK to the doctor. Also explain to him/her that you are hurting above your hip. Could be the position of the baby that is causing the pain above your hip.
