I just bought aa 88 Dodge Ram pickup and the gas gage is reading empty. I have filled the tank but doesn't help. All the other gages work. What are some of the possable causes and how do I fix them?

If i'm not mistaken there is a sensor that could be stuck or the floater gauge is sticking.
