ive heard a lot about this mentos and soda trick.just how volital a reaction is this and can it do actual damage

Anything with a chemical reaction can do damage when it contains things under pressure. If you do attempt this, make sure you get out of the area (5 feet should do the trick).

2 liters of cola and an entire metos pack. Take the mentos out of the aluminum wrapper and place them back into the paper wrapper. Put them in, close the lid on the soda, and step back. It takes a couple seconds for the pressure to build up.
