Acidity ( and alkalinity) can be best tested using 'litmus' test paper. The cheapest and most readily available source is to pick up some at a pet store that has tropical fish supplies -- 'litmus' paper, with corresponding color-match samples, is used to assure pH of aquarium waters.......the test 'kit' is quite accurate and is about one-tenth the cost of buying laboratory-grade 'litmus'
