On line banking is the best thing, they have a spending report, and email reminders and bill pay. It is like having a spread sheet for each month, and you bills get paid on time, and you can stop paper bills, and never have to buy stamps.

Just buy a little notebook, with a page for each month. You can keep years worth of stuff in one notebook. I have them, and you can check back and see how things have changed and what you paid when. Cheap and easy.

you could also make a file using excel..... then rename the sheets with the kind of bills you have.

try using Microsoft Money - you may even havr a copy on your puter
