Everything is relative...

2006-07-16 18:27:23 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 1

sometimes i do wonder if our physical world is a reality or an illusion. I think its due to the fact that everything we know is so little in contrast to what we don't. Sometimes i wonder if we're just part of this big illusion imagined by a higher being, if there's more to space than just emptiness..but i guess ill never know.

in real life i know that what is really "Real" is the constant reminder that there is no explanation for such things. That the only thing i can see as real are the feelings i have for those i love and the fact that nothing in this world is constant, and that no matter how hard you try in life sh*t always goes wrong..

Your question is abstracting waaaay to much. First of all, to quote an eastern philosophy book, "all ideas and names of things in the world are simply for the convenience of the human mind". That said, everything that we humans talk about is about human concepts, and every object we talk about is a perceived object in the form of an idea.
To properly define "real", you have got to set up a framework of some type, because the word itself lends to many interpretations. You could have real pizza, real breasts, real music, real objects. In all cases, though, "real" is a category of existence that stands true to set ideals of a human group.

real is defined in the eyes of the observer. I define "real" as anything that I experience firsthand, to describe this briefly. Sometimes it's easier to define something by what it is not.

In the spirit of good philosophy students everywhere, I will quote another philospher (in this instance, George Berkeley). *ahem* "Esse est percipi" ("To be is to be perceived").

Anyhting that I personally have experiential knowledge of is real. For example, I have it on good authority that China exists. I have no reason to not believe that, per se. However, having never been to China, it is not "real" to me. It all really comes down to the difference between _thinking_ that something is real and _knowing_ that it is.

When a person is "Real". They are sincere and honest. They not only speak the truth as best they can but they also try to live and grow and learn along the way.

I'm real. Real tired of idiots on the web. Not you- I am talking about people on here with stupid answers that are mean to others or people who refuse to type legible words and refuse to use proper English.

I remember a book from my childhood "The Velveteen Rabbit" it was about a little stuffed bunny toy who was loved so much by his boy that he became real. His fur started to wear away in places & he looked rather ratty, but he was still the boy's favorite. The boy gets sick & his mother has to burn all of his infected toys, but because the boy loved him so much, God smiled on him & made him real. To be loved so much by someone, that it can transform you: That's real.

Real is what I can see in front of my eyes... and also many things that I don't see. In a changing world, real is what we percieve as real. Feelings can be real... but they still change, over time.
Material things can be real, but they still decay over time.

What is real, then? Is it real that remains forever, or only those things are real that we percieve as real RIGHT NOW???

I think, only eternal things, God, are real... the rest is will be forgotten and turned to ashes..... or changed!
