If you can avoid a tonsillectomy at your age, good. It is an easy surgery for kids, but adults have a real hard time with it. It is very painful and the recovery time can be prolonged. I've known people who had up to 4 weeks recovery time.
Surgery always has risks from the anesthesia and possible reactions to blood loss and infection. The throat is very vascular: it has a large blood flow. When you have surgery there it can cause quite a bit of blood loss. If you don't have to have the surgery then don't. Try to exhaust every other method first.

Take Prilosec for your reflux and get a tonsillectomy. They are very safe it just hurts a lot more when u r older than when u r a kid. My daughter had an extra set of lingual tonsils that she had to have removed and they had nothing to do with her breath. She just had trouble swallowing and eating. Get the surgery. Your sister does not know what is going to happen to you so don't pay attention to her.

I have had my tonsils and adnoids out and I am fine. Don't worry about your teeth, and as for you dying, you will be in good hands that do this surgery every day. Don't worry. Not having your tonsils would probably be more harmful to your health.

generally the surgery is pretty safe. but for every op, it carries it own risk, but for this 1. ITS GENERALLY SAFE BUT NOT 100% SAFE.

you should talk to your doctor regarding your fear and anxiety. no point sitting down here and ponder over it. since he is the person in charge he will know your condition much better compared to anyone else here.

It is perfectly safe. To be sure, check out the doc who would be doing the surgery-- how many times he has done it, his safety record, etc, then follow what he says to the letter and you should be fine.

Yes it is safe.
Lots of people get tonsillectomies.
Don't worry, do it if you have to.
If you are not sure about the necessity of doing it, check that with a couple of more doctors.
