People are so paranoid and cry "RACIST" any chance they get. It's like red scare McCarthyism of the 50's or the Salem Witch Trials. People have forgotten what "racist" really means. Racism is hatred for a race or the belief that a race is genetically inferior. But the majority of accusations of racism these days do not fit that definition at all. And a person of any color can be racist.

Example: Black guy accuses white cop of calling him an ape because he was eating a banana in his presence. The fact that he actually made the association between "black" and "ape" says more about his racial prejudices than his. But don't get me wrong, white people also pull this paranoid garbage all the time.

navy I agree. And I think PC is just sugarcoated racism. Please tell me how Affirmative Action isn't racist and damaging to blacks- the whole message is "you're inferior, so I'll lower your standards". My people were doing a heck of a lot better 50 years ago than we are today. Stupid Democrats.

You are so correct. How ever it has become a tool for a lot of people to get what they want with out earning it.

IE: I knew a lady that went to the NAACP and said her company did not have any black managers and the next thing you know she was a manager.

The sociological definition of prejudice is essentially this:
Holding stereotypes against another group of individuals.

Essentially racism boils down to:
Acting out on prejudice.

So that means burning crosses and screaming hateful things at people. That would be like if you called me a "kraut" and then threw a bottle of Schnapps at me with the Volkswagen logo written in magic marker on the label. A prejudice would be assuming that I eat lots of sausage (which... is actually true...).

Now as for being considered "racist" for making a comment about race is ridiculous. The best way to suppress a subject is to not talk about it. I have a feeling this all started when some goons working for an ideological newspaper somewhere started making accusations of racism against people who mentioned the fact that people of race exist.

If anybody accuses you of being racist, remind them that there was never a civil rights leader that didn't speak about race and the injustice of labeling.

In fact, racism has only been around the last 400 years and was invented by some damned Dutch slave traders. They needed an excuse to kidnap people from their homes and force them into slave labor. Well, the biggest difference they could see was color of skin, so they zeroed in on that. Voila, racism. Ever since it's inception, it has been a tool of keeping Europeans and now Americans powerful. Even "white" people were considered of an inferior race in the 19th century. Anybody living East of Germany was considered of an inferior breed. It was absolutely childish, but it has worked marvelously for those in power.

Lastly, I have to be a little PC and say that "color" has too painful of a connotation. I much prefer "flavor!" I wouldn't mind being labeled "dreamcicle" but I do mind being labeled "white". Who wants to be "mudslide?" We can get together and have a delicious ice cream extravaganza!

See how inane the concept of race is? (I'm serious about that ice cream extravaganza, though. We're doin' it.)

Anything PC is almost ALWAYS wrong!

IT is just rhetoric that bulldozes its way into a conversation/argument in place of cogent thought!

Read the IMMIGRATION section on here and see how often the term racist is used against those who oppose the pro-crime element!
Like illegal alien is a race!
You are correct about the affirmative action issue!
In my home state of Michigan, there was also 'Black English' in the Willow Run school system. If a black person had to write
I was with my friends.
and they wrote
Ah waz wif mah frenz.
They were not allowed to be marked wrong!
What does that really teach?
Does it teach that blacks are not capable of learning and properly speaking?
Does it teach Whites (or non-blacks) that everyone whould be treated equally?

The simple truth is that no two people are equal in terms of absolute ability and skill, size, etc.
On the other hand, EVERYONE is of the same value!
Our differences set us apart and make us each unique!
PC is a ruination of those good differences and an attempt to stack the deck against those who try, apply, and succeed!

To the person who mentioned that anything said against Bush is unpatriotic: Things said against ANY president have been deemed unpatriotic by some people since George Washington. People will always think of stuff like that.

To the person who mentioned that racism began with Dutch slave traders: Dead wrong. Racism first began with the Greeks. Herodotus once said that black people "lived too close to the sun", and the Greeks called foreigners "barbaroi", meaning "stutterer", as they had trouble speaking Greek. (That's also why we have the word "barbarian".)

I don't understand the whole political correctness thing either. It's like liberals want to whitewash history. Can't erase the past, people!

It's the balance.

Everyone has the right to complain, as everyone has the right to complain about complaining.

Just as everyone has the right to be racist and sexist.

As long as you don't act on it in a way that breaks the law, I have no problem with it.

Just remember it reeks of ignorance.

Some people put cop to donut and is that always true? If everybody was purple we would find something else to gripe about. I would be big noses vs small... go figure you just can't make everybody happy if you can make a few you have done something in your lifetime:-)

There's only 1 way to stop political correctness, and that is to practice your freedom of speech. Say what you want.
I'm white and why would I care if some other race dislikes me due to my race. It won't change my race.
Let them call me whatever makes them feel superior.
Apparently they are so shallow that they NEED to feel superior.
I'm not going to sink to their level.
