Yes, the Men are out to tell women how to control their bodies. Its the woman's business. Period. Note the irony, conservatives say they want government out of our lives, but they actually want total control--who you can love, what you can do with them, what your personal private medical decisions will be. Its why they should have started taxing the churches that went into politics the instant they started. Oh and the preacher's daughter will always be able to get an abortion, somewhere, even if its in Europe.

Conservatives will quote the Bible to you. They'll remind you that the baby doesn't know who the father is. The child is innocent.
The fact that the mother has to go through a major major ordeal plus the cost and life-changing affect of bringing up a baby doesn't really enter into their shallow little worlds where nobody gets raped, where nobody lives below the poverty line, and where nobody gets pregnant at 14 etc. And if any of these things happen then its because of the bloody foreigners.
The Conservative party is the party of choice for many well-to-do Americans who are much more likely to pay for IVF to GET a baby than to be in a situation where they need an abortion. Abortion is predominantly a big issue for the poor and vulnerable. This is a class of people that the current administration has no time for. 'Every man for himself'. Classist. Racist. Anti-welfare. It stands to reason they would be anti-abortion. They call themselves "pro-life" but couldn't give a toss about QUALITY of life.

Who told you that it is her body ? It isn't . It is a separate body. It happens to be living in the mother's body but it isn't her body.
If it was then by definition a woman who is pregnant with a male has a 4 hands, 4 feet , 2 heads and a penis.
Does the baby have a choice in this matter ? Have you ever checked out pictures of babies after abortions ?
As far as the rape comment. Why should the baby be put to death for something the parents did ? Having sex has consequences.
As far as rape is concerned. Very few if any pregnancies happen after rape because of the trauma involved.
The question is really is the fetus a human being ? If it is abortion is murder. And I believe the fetus is a human being.

~~The conservatives are only trying to preserve the sanctity of life.... first off, if it was the woman's body and her choice to do with her own body that would be one thing, but no abortion is done before the heart begins beating... as early as 18 days after conception there is a beating heart.... and abortion is going to stop that heart from beating, and abortion is distroying a baby's body, that baby is a seperate being from the mother, and should have the right to decide for itself what happens to it's body.
Abortion is distroying another body. many say well they can't survive on their own, so it don't count... tell me what newborn... full term... can survive without any assistance.... same difference... they both have a beating heart.
in the case of a rape, it is not the baby's fault that the mother was raped... and there is adoption if she don't want to raise the child. (my nephew would not exist if my sister had chose abortion
there are those who talk about all the unwanted children in foster care... that's just it... they are children ... not babies.... and the reason they are in foster care and not adopted is because there are many out there that are so selfish that they will only adopt an infant. there are so many people out there that are waiting to adopt, if they would just consider an older child there wouldn't be so many waiting to be adopted. there is a waiting list for babies.
i can say from experience that adopting an older child can be a rewarding experience too, and that child becomes just as much yours as if you would have taken the child on as a baby.
people that are tired of hearing that adoption is an option obviously don't have all the facts. it is still a human being that is being ripped apart by abortion... and it is not the baby's fault
also to those who feel that christians are hypocritical because of being for the death penalty, im not for that either... leave them in jail and prison, but take away their gym, their cable, and their gourmet meals, and go back to making prison a punishment and not a resourt.)~~

Though you have a point about rape victims, abortion has become so convenient that morality has taken a dive. "Oh well, we'll just have an abortion", is a common phrase and a sorry excuse for some dumb asses that didn't want to use a condom or protection of any kind. There is scientific proof that the fetus can feel pain. Imagine that was you. There are some good reasons to have abortions, but unfortunately the bad reasons are used far more often. Maybe you can come up with some better legislation.

Pfft. Abortion is being abused big time and crossed the line loooong ago from women exercising reproductive "choice" to a large scale murder of babies in the name of marxism (if you don't know what I am talking about you should go and research this thoroughly....you will be SHOCKED at who the pro-choice people are and what their agenda is). It has exceeded 1 in 4 pregnancies by CDC statistics now. No way in hell that is legitimate use of abortion.
So, quite naturally, the states are attempting to curtail the worst abuses. The fact that you bring up the most legitimate uses for abortion instead of the actual restrictions being implemented (ie third tri partial birth abortion where you basically deliver the baby and then stab it in the head and cut it into pieces) really tells where you are coming from.

For the same reason that slavery was made illegal--to stop injustice and oppression. Remember, the Supreme Court also ruled that blacks were not "persons" based on the color of their skin. They have now ruled that unborn children are not "persons," regardless of all the scientific evidence to the contrary. Slaveowners "owned" their slaves and killed or kept them according to their whims. This is the situation for the unborn today. For more on the comparison between slavery and abortion, see:
http://www.blackgenocide.org/abortion.html
You must remember that the circumstances of a child's conception (rape, birth control failure, irresponsibility, whatever) are never the child's fault. Every unborn child is innocent and not deserving of death. Would we kill a one-year-old because her daddy was a rapist, or because her mommy's birth control failed? If not, why is the child in the womb fair game?

Whether you are pro choice or not has no bearing on this question or my answer.
Why lump all conservatives into the same category? Many conservatives are split on many political issues, including abortion. We don't all think alike, so it's unfair to assume that all of them are driven with a certain agenda.
I can't speak for those who propell the idea that abortion is unacceptable under any circumstances. However, I do undertand why they believe that abortion is taking a human life. Because it is. It is in fact ending a life, however you choose to phrase it or justify it. They are simply resinstating that there are rights of the unborn.
I can also understand why many are against partial birth abortion, because it literally is killing a child who has been developed full term. It's difficult to justify this procedure, because there is no medical evidence that it does the mother any good to perform this procedure so close to delivery. In fact, if anything, it causes great distress to have this done (I've seen coverage on this and it's very disturbing. Plus the doctor is a total dweeb). It's simply disgusting. The doctors have to turn the baby around, because it's considered murder to end a baby's life coming out head first. If you do the research on this, you'll see that I'm not mistaken.
In regards to minors having abortion rights, I am horrified by this for two reasons: One, they are minors and their parents are responsible for them. Two: abortion is not a simple procedure & should only be done with parental consent.
Some school nurses and schools actually take girls to a clinic without notifying the parents, and they are protected by law to do so. I disagree with this, because public schools have an obligation to protect our children. It's not their place to be sticking their noses in private matters that should be decided by parents. Parents are legally responsible for their children, including providing proper medical care for them. Many procedures can be done by an ob/gyn and be considered medically necessary, including a D & C. In this case, at the least the child would have proper medical supervision, should anything happen. If another individual takes that responsibility into their own hands, they can be held liable if something happens to the child. The procedure itself is minimized. In fact, there are many risks, including death. If a child happens to get an abortion, contracts an infection, she could be dead within 24 hours. This happened to a friend of mine. There was no notice to anyone until after she was dead. Imagine how her parents felt when they found this out. All because the clinic was unclean. And this is what happens when the government sticks its nose in our business.
Personally, I wish the laws were consistent with this. They're not. On one hand, many states allow a female the choice. On the other hand, if a pregnant woman's unborn child is killed because of someone else, that person can be charged with manslaughter. If you can look at the reasoning, I'll show you: Either a fetus is a massive blob of nothingness, in which case it's okay to abort, since it isn't a living thing anyway...OR it isn't just a massive blob of nothingness but an actual life, in which case someone CAN be held responsible for the death of an unborn child. It can't be both. It doesn't make sense to have both laws in place.
Since there are already laws on the books (however dry the interpretation of that is) loosely protecting abortion, I highly doubt that they will be reversed, especially since the Supreme Court makes the final decisions (as a last resort) in order to create a premise for other situations in the future. And frankly, many conservatives have no interest in reversing any of these laws, regardless of what the media spouts, including myself.
Many conservatives are moderates regarding this issue, and do believe that it HAS to be woman's right, because of their extreme distaste in governmental control. However, many moderates also don't like the fact that their tax dollars go to these clinics.
If you don't "get" why people voice their opinion on this, then I'm going to take a guess and say that you can probably conceive. There are many women who cannot conceive and want children, including myself. It's hard for us to imagine a woman terminating a pregnancy except for medical reasons.
As for rape, I do believe that the woman suffers enough trauma as it is and needs to do what's best for her. That's certainly not my place to say what is right or wrong. However, I know a girl who is the product of rape, and was adopted from Guatemala from some dear friends of ours. Our lives (and theirs) would be completely different without her in it. She is truly a blessing.
I hope that maybe you have some understanding now that all conservative do not think the same. I hope you can see why I shared these things with you.

Why do I care that a child is being murdered because of a couple of idiots couldn't wait until they're married to have sex? Just like a person dies because someone decided to DUI? You're right, a fetus is just a piece of property, just like a "n*gger" was just a piece of property. The logic that's used to defend infanticide is the same logic that was used to defend slavery. And wanting to change something for the better wouldn't make someone a conservative, it would make them a progressive. So you're the real conservative. Let's stop living in the 70's people. Free love has caused nothing but broken families, STD epidemics, and unstable relationships, to name a few. Sure I get horny just like everyone else, but that doesn't mean I'm going to sleep around, just like being angry with someone doesn't mean beating them up or murdering them in a heat of passion.
Legalize it for rape victims, but not EVERYONE. Extremists of any kind are narrow and bigoted, including yourself.
Intolerant=moral anarchist terminology for someone who knows the difference between right and wrong.

The choice should be lift to the mother.. I believe this is a personal is issue and should not be a public issue. If you don't want her to have an abortion then, why don't you raise the kid?.. Then, how do you expect for a raped women to raise the rapists children, those children when they grow up they will look similar to their fathers..
I'm against abortion as a personal opinion, but this is your choice. Where's your freedom if somebody will decide what you have to do ???
