Not all of us do. Some like "Becky", which is what my parents called me growing up, and some like just "Beck" which is what my friends call me now, and some prefer the full "Rebecca", which is what I go by at work. I have never actually used "Becca".

its a old fashioned name from the old testament also takes longer to pronounce. most take the secondary shorter names of Becca or Becky as what the want their friends and family to call them.
had an aunt that didn't like the name her parents gave her and shorten it for so long that even her children got so used to calling her that that they forgot the name on her birth certificate. which gave them headaches later after she died.

People like nicknames. A name like Rebecca often feels too formal to a lot of people.

Because Rebecca is considered an "Old World" name and many girls whose parents gave them such names tend to want to shorten or abbreviate them to something that sounds a bit more modern.

Not all do. But probably the same reason "Nickolas" is usually "Nic". It's just shorter, easier to say, and gives more of an intimate feeling to be called something other than what the legal papers say your name is.
