North Korea: Not if we dont want to incur the nuclear wrath of their allies China, and Russia.

Iran: maybe depends if iran nukes one of its neighbors first.

Iran: No, the USA needs middle-eastern oil too much to damage a major oil producer. In addition, Iran can do untold mischief in Iraq which will cause many US casualties and make the Iraq mission fail (assuming it is not going to fail anyway).

North Korea: no, the North also has nuclear weapons and there are tens of thousands of US service personnel stationed only a few miles from the North-South border.

no, there was enough oppostion within the pentagon from the career generals that thank god, the nuclear option was taken off the table.

specifically in the case of north korea, i doubt any military action will be taken. Pyongyang would launch missles into south korea killing scores of civilians and possibly holding our 35,000 US troops in South Korea hostage. Diplomacy and sanctions are really the only tools for dealing with North Korea.
