Two really good signs of labor>>>
Your water breaks
Your contractions are 5-7 minutes apart
Possible backache..
Early labor...usually last the longest. Contractions can last less then a minute with 5 or more minutes inbetween contractions. They aren't too bad and normal activities are still possible. Dialations is between 0-3 cm at this stage
Active labor...contractions become stronger and longer...lasting up to a min. with 2-5 min. between contractions..not as easy to ignore
Dilation between 4-7 cm during this stage.
You will want to be at the hospital at this stage.

How to tell when you are in real labor:
Contractions are symmetrical.
Contractions begin at the cervix, move up and around to the back or from the back to the front.
They are regular and occur in a predictable pattern.
They get longer, stronger and closer together.
They do not stop if you change what you are doing and walking may make them more intense.
And again:
Remember to call your doctor if your water breaks, even if you are not having contractions

You'll know! My second came 25 days early, right after a blizzard. It was the last thing I expected! But I also knew it wasn't the braxton hicks thingy. A mother always knows, right?
Congrats and good luck!

some labor may feel like a stomach ache. But the best way to know is if the contractions are consistant and get closer together.

Your water may break again. If it doesn't wait until the contractions are 5 minutes apart or whatever your doctor tells you. Second babies come quicker, so don't mess around.
