I experience this primarily with my kids. However, on Y!A, I have often been guilty of doing this. Haven't you? Does it make you laugh? Does it bother you? Why would it bother you? Do you think it's appropriate asking a question about asking a question? I mean isn't that a little redundant? Are you ready to ask a real question? Did you ask this question to make some sort of statement about people answering questions with questions, or was this simply your question? Are you going to remember my answer?

It depends on my question. Some questions I ask because I want an answer, because I know there is a definite answer that someone knows and I do not. Other questions I ask because I want to think about it, and I want to see how others think and what other people think about it. Answering this kind of question with a question opens new avenues of thought to me that may not have occurred to me otherwise.

Sometimes it's necessary because I've forgotten some detail or some important point that's needed to answer the question. Then, I like it.

Psychologists are good at this. This gets them out of having to do they're job and give you the answers. They want you to find the answers yourself. Basically a higher version of talking back.
I want someone to talk back to me I talk to my kids.

If I help you more with a question than a straight answer, that's okay isn't it?
