There are a few ways to see what is loading at bootup; you can check the startup folder by clicking:
START, PROGRAMS, then STARTUP.. but this will only show you the programs that load.
The easiest way is to press [CRTL], [ALT], [DEL] keys holding each down as you press the next.. don't forget to let go. and only do that once.. twice will reboot the PC.
If you do this right after WINDOWS finishes loading you will see all the programs that are loaded in memory.. they might not be discernable as to what they are doing though.
Several programs out there that will help, my favorite is TONIART's EASYCLEANER.. you can do a GOOGLE search of this and download the program for free.. has lots of usefull utility programs as well.

go to run & msconfig. Once there, look at the start up tab. It's the one to the far right. It will list programs set to start at start up. And it's not an amateur question. How are you going to find out if you don't ask?

After you boot, press CTRL-ALT-DEL and look at processes and programs. Also, look in START-ALL PROGRAMS-STARTUP to see what programs are listed to start.

If you don't have windows XP, that won't work. Go here to download it if you don't have it:

It's a stand alone program so you don't need XP to run it.

Please be careful with msconfig. If you change or remove items, it could crash your computer.
