If you are a straight man why would a gay man scare or bother you? I'm curious. Because you taunt us but I think we also make you afraid in some ways. Why is that?

I am not a man but my husband is a homophobe and he tells me that it is because it is not natural. He says it really makes him uncomfortable. BUT if he was to meet a gay man and not know he was gay he would be OK. BUT if I or anyone else or the guy would TELL him he was gay he would walk away. Did that make sense. I honestly believe to it was imposed on him that it was wrong, by his family. We are in our 30s so things are much more open now in the past 10 years. Maybe even longer.

.My husband does not taunt anyone who is gay like I said he would simply walk away. I have no problem with people who are gay I believe you love who you love ,and it is not any ones business but your own.

I hate the whole concept of people who say that Gay is who they are as a person, rather than a sexual preference towards the same gender. If more people realized the difference, than they would not be afraid of a "gay" man unless they were somehow concerns that they would be performing some sort of gay act. Otherwise, they would have nothing to be afraid of. Being gay should not define one as a person, just like those who smoke.

Female here; took my homophobic (but very sweet) boyfriend to one of my gay brother's circuit party events a few years back.....he felt really bad later once he realized those "scary gay men" are doctors, lawyers, etc.... we have a great time with my brother's friends now, so much so that when my boyfriend and I married last November, we had a double ceremony with my brother and his partner in front of the whole family....we didn't care what they thought about it. Ok so maybe some of the bears scared him just a little bit : )

My husband and I are in our 40's and part of that group that seems to be in limbo on the issue of homosexuality. We; however, made our choice to be loving, caring and supportive. One of my husband's best friends is gay. The friend's sexual preferences doesn't bother my husband at all in part because we nearly lost this friend a number of years ago and it forced all of us to the realization that there are much worse things than being gay - like losing a friend to death and stupidly not having told him that you loved him because you were worried what he might think. Fortunately the friend is doing great and back to 100%. Interestingly my husband feels no need to defend his sexuality in light of this friendship but the friend does. He has literaly jumped down other gay's throats who have suggested that my husband is really a closet case. We all just laugh about it - yes, we laugh about it because ignorance isn't just on the side of homophobics.

I am pretty sure it doesn't scare "straight" men. My husband is never threatened by gay men because he knows he is not gay. Gay men aren't interested, nor do they have the power to "turn" people gay. I think it is people who don't want to deal with their own sexuality. It is really quite sad, they must be very confused.

This is a women speaking. My husband and I discuss this quite a bit because we have a gay friend but when he sees homosexuality on TV, he turns it off. I don't get it. I think my husband is homophobic though. He refused to watch the movie, ah crap, I forgot the name of it, it's late. The cowboy one with Heath Ledger and I thought it was excellent.
