Absolutely; insomnia is fairly common during the first trimester. Plus, there is so much to think about now! Suggestions for overcoming are reading a book, drinking something warm before you go to bed, meditation/relaxation. What worked for me was just trying to clear my mind.

It can be due to the fact that your brain is not ready to relax for the night.Too much activity will always delay sleep.I used to get up after about 1/2 hr and try to read something, newspaper or book until i felt readt to try sleeping again

I do that too, because I worry about everything, get a good book, or play on the internet for a while, that is what I am doing now to get tired. or watch tv for awhile to get tired. I heard once when you are in bed, dont let your eyes close, pretty soon, you cant keep them open.

yes,
my grandmother is an insomniac.
know what helps?
She said to exert your body energy all day, avoid the bedroom and laying on the bed or sofa during the day, avoid taking naps during the day - that way at night, when it time for bed, you will be really tired, and you will sleep like a baby-
it works for her everytime....

Yes, if your pregnant! good luck trying to get comfortable, I couldn't my whole pregnancy. It's not fun! Try some sleepy time tea and a nice warm bath before bedtime. Also the smell of lavender relaxes you and helps you sleep.

Uhh.. yes (for me).. kinda. Me, my mom and other people I know are like that sometimes. It's called insomnia ~ the "chronic inability to fall asleep or remain asleep for an adequate length of time." A lot of people have it.

You get insomnia from thinking about how the baby is going to change your life and just the hormones of being pregnant! It's a double whammy!

Also, the big ole belly doesn't help, my husband thought it was annoying that I'd toss and turn all night, I thought it was annoying that he was annoyed at me for tossing and turning. :)

Yeah. I have to take a sleeping pill when I can't. My doctor prescribed Restoril. It works great. Maybe you should ask your doctor as well.
