I'm not sure about the quality of the service but we had a Katrina evacuee staying with us for awhile who signed up with them. He used our phone number as a reference (with our consent). He canceled his service in December when he found a permanent home and we're still getting automated phone calls asking him to renew. When I call the number they give on the message I can never get through.

Trac phones are ok, no credit is needed, which there are some people in this world who don't have credit, so that makes it handy, and besides you can control how much you spend on it, you buy 60 min,100 minutes ect.ect., it depends on how much you use the phone, I have one, I get 100 minutes each month, of course I don't use my cell that much only for emergency, times only the cards can range in prices from 20.00 to 30.00 to 100 and up there is all different prices, you can call anyone in the whole word, it does not matter, as long as you have minutes, but if you want one to just talk with friends and plane on being on the phone a lot, then it might not be the phone for you, because minutes don't last to long, but there is some cell phones that use, pay as you go, it might be better, don't know it depends on how much you use the celly
trac phone, is okay though, but keeping up with cards can be a pain, I don't use mine that much so, it don't cost to much,
try one of them pay as you go cells, but its up to you,
good luck with the cell.

Trac phone os ok if all you need is basic phone service. If you dont use the phone enough to have to pay for service that gives you thousands of min, it is a good choice. I have one and it serves my purpose of having a phone in case of emergancy.

I had Tracfone few years ago and had a very positive experience.
Free phone and one year card for $80.... awesome deal.
I believe it was like for 4 hours total but I hardly ever used it and had about 30 min left when it expired.
Never had a dropped call or any other reception problems. But I did have problems with AT&T when I switched because I wanted a cooler phone which was a huge mistake.

The cost is ok, if you don't use it very much, but I had terrible reception and a lot of dropped calls. It depends were you are, but I could be outside, nothing in the way of the signal, walk 3 feet and go from a strong signal to nothing.
I since got a phone that requires a contract. Works a lot better but costs waaay more.

No, we had them and switched to Virgin Mobile, it's cheaper. Each time we went to update our Tracfone on line it was a nightmare. We paid for the minutes, but the code given wouldn't take. So we had to call customer service, and it would take up to twenty minutes or more of trying different codes repeatedly to get one to work. Virgin Mobile has a auto fill up option on line, you register your credit card number, so if you run low in the middle of the interstate, you don't have to find a gas station to buy a Tracfone card and try to get it to work.

i'm a parent and that i think of that your boyfriend's mothers and fathers are being ridiculous. the priority that I see with your boyfriend getting his very own telephone is that if his mothers and fathers see it or pay attention it, they gets mad and ought to take the telephone and throw it away even nonetheless your boyfriend offered it himself.
