I agree that this is very rude. Have you ever seen the show "Trigger Happy TV"? Its a british comedic/candidn camera type show. There is one sketch that the main character does where he'll be in a crowded public place, such as a bus, a library or an elevator, and all of the sudden a cell phone ring will sound. The character pulls out a cell phone that is probably about the size of a baby panda bear and starts pretending like he can't hear whoever is on the other end of the line and shouting. Its a hilarious jab at how rude people actually are. My biggest pet peeve is when I'll be in the car with my best friend, and she'll take a 20 minute call from her boyfriend and say things like, "well I'm glad, that you're glad, that I'm glad...."

They're just like little children with cell phones. It gives them a feeling of importance. Very low on the knowledge of etiquette and respect toward others. Grow up cell phone uses in supermarkets and freeways. You are being turkeys!!!

If you find a good answer to this, please let me know! There's nothing more irritating that being at work and having to listen to someone yammering on their cell phone instead of talking to you, like they should be. That's one reason I don't have a cell phone except for dire emergencies!

I completely agree with you.
Another point with cell phones that drives me crazy is in the hospital emergency room. They have signs posted everywhere that tell you not to use them in the waiting area because it messes with the equipment, but everytime I go there, there is at least one inconsiderate, stupid moron talking on one.

Well, people shout because the person on the other end probably can't hear them too well over the noise.
