This is a tricky question, and best advised locally, if possible. If you wait one to two months, very likely the position has been given to someone else. However, if you call persisently after one or two days and thereafter, you may very well annoy the Human Resources personnel, and put yourself out of the running. If you can find someone to clue you in as to how immedate their need is, how long the screening process takes, etc, it will help to guide you. As a general rule, the smaller the company, the sooner (4-7 days) you can call to inquire. A follow-up, handwritten, thank you note even sooner would probably be much-appreciated and well-received, though!

1 or 2 days and after the first contact/interview keep checking on them. The more persistent you are they more likely you are to get the job. It shoes determination.

A month to three months, depending on who you applied for. Don't worry, I'm sure they would contact you if you got the job.
